Museums of Los Angeles County

With the closing of the Ralph W. Miller Golf Library and Museum in 2000 (formerly located at the Industry Hills Sheraton Resort), we regret that there are currently no sports-oriented museums in Los Angeles County. The museum had been at the resort for 22 years. The museum's 7,000 library materials were added to the Amateur Athletic Foundation's sports library in Los Angeles. The former Ralph W. Miller collection includes an original edition of Laws and Actes of Parliament from 1597 that has one of the earliest mentions of golf. This early book records Scottish law from the 1400s forbidding golf because it distracted from archery practice.
