For the 2005-2006 school year, Los Angeles County’s Juvenile Hall secondary education program enrolled 3,444 students.

In May 2000, veteran actor Kirk Douglas became the first living person in Los Angeles to have a high school named for him.
West Granada High School was renamed Kirk Douglas High School.
