Editor's Note: We would also like to note the Fullerton Station at 120 E Santa Fe Ave, Fullerton. Although it is in Orange County, it may be more easily accessible by many southeastern L.A. County residents. It is a nice station, but does not compare to the majesty of Union Station. The Fullerton Station has on-site ticketing and serves the Pacific Surfliner and Southwest Chief routes.

More than 1.4 million AMTRAK passengers pass through Union Station in Los Angeles each year.

Union Station, opened in 1939, is on the National Register of Historic Places. The station was originally designed to consolidate passenger terminals of the Southern Pacific, Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe and Union Pacific Railroads into a single station (hence the term "Union").

Glendale's Spanish-Mediterranean Depot, a Glendale historic landmark, was built in 1924.
