Since it was established in 1928 by famed Hollywood veterinarian, Dr. Eugene Jones, more than 60,000 pets have been buried at the Los Angeles Pet Memorial Park and Cemetery in Calabasas. Saved from development in 1986 and transformed into a publicly-run non-profit, the cemetery is the final resting place for animal film stars, pets of celebrities, lions and cats, horses and pigs, and even rescue dogs who located victims of the September 11th attacks. The pet cemetery is as much a place of love and remembrance as it is a place of loss and burial.
