With more than 3 million adherents in 2020, Los Angeles County is home to the largest Catholic population in the United States. Cook County, Illinois (home of Chicago), is home to the second largest Catholic population in the nation with 1.5 million adherents.


Los Angeles County was home to more than 97,000 Buddhist adherents in 2020, making up nine percent of all Buddhist adherents in the nation. The county's Buddhist community is the largest concentration in the United States.
