Dalilah Muhammad, along with fellow U.S. athlete Sydney McLaughlin, broke the world's record in women's 400-meter hurdles at the Tokyo Olympics. Muhammad, who won the silver medal, finished at 51.58 seconds, coming in just behind first-place finisher McLaughlin's 51:46 seconds, who won the gold medal. The previous world record was 51.90 seconds, set by McLaughlin herself in the Olympic trials in June. Before that, Muhammad set the world record in 2019 at 52.16 seconds.
